About this project

HRPF raised concerns about access to medical care at District Jail Mandi Bahauddin and pursued a complaint before the Provincial Ombudsman Punjab. The supplied decision records the jail administration’s medical-care arrangements and HRPF’s satisfaction during the proceedings. This concerns the recorded intervention and does not guarantee present-day conditions.

The challenge

Concerns about the absence of the designated doctor indicated that prisoners were having difficulty obtaining basic medical attention.

Our approach

HRPF contacted jail authorities and submitted a complaint to the Ombudsman Punjab. The proceedings sought information from the jail administration and led to a decision addressing the concerns.

What we aim to achieve

  • Improve detained people’s access to basic medical care.

What we do

  • Raised the medical-care concern with jail authorities.
  • Filed and followed an Ombudsman complaint.
  • Sought reports and corrective action concerning staff availability.

Results and lasting change

  • The Ombudsman issued a decision on the complaint.
  • Improved availability of medical staff was recorded after implementation.
